Connor McClennon scored twice to lead the Winnipeg ICE to a 5-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers Saturday at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
Briley Wood, Zack Ostapchuk and Matthew Savoie also struck on Tigers goaltender Beckett Langkow to give Winnipeg a 2-0 series advantage heading to Medicine Hat for Game Three Tuesday and Game Four on Wednesday.
For the second straight game, the ICE won the special teams battle going 2/4 on the power play while the Tigers went 1/4. In the face off circle, Conor Geekie had the most success of any player winning 12 of 14.
Andrew Basha and Dallon Melin replied for the visitors. Melin and Gavin McKenna led all players in the contest with four shots each as the Tigers outshot the ICE 27-22.
