Ice to Host Outlaws
March 27, 2009 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Colorado Crush News Release
On March 28th the Colorado ICE open the 2009 IFL regular season with a home game at the Budweiser Events Center against their long-time conference rival the Billings Outlaws at 7:00 pm.
Last season, the ICE just missed the playoffs posting a record of 6 - 8 while the Outlaws went 11 - 4 and made it to the semi-finals of the UIF championship, eventually losing to the Sioux Falls Storm.
The teams played three times last year with the Outlaws winning twice and the ICE winning once. The first game ended in a 28 - 26 nail biter won by the Outlaws, while the second game ended in a close win for the ICE 39 - 37. Their third and final game was won by the Outlaws more convincingly 76 - 46. But with a new season, new league, and new ownership for the ICE, anything can happen in 2009.
The Outlaws are 1 - 0 heading into their matchup with the ICE after dominating the Sioux City Bandits 82 - 12 on March 15th, a game in which defensive back Michael Eby earned IFL Defensive Player of the Week honors. The ICE enter the game optimistically with momentum from their 75 - 28 exhibition victory of the Northern Colorado WolfPack on March 13th at the Budweiser Events Center.
This promises to be a hard hitting, action packed affair showcasing some of the best talent the IFL has to offer when bitter conference rivals collide for the first of two meetings this year.
