LAST GAME - 4-1 LOSS TO PORTLAND: The Winnipeg ICE were unable to win back-to-back to open their five-game trip through the U.S. Division. Blanked on a half-dozen power play chances and stung by early-period goals, the ICE fell 4-1 to the Winterhawks Sunday in Portland, OR. Kishaun Gervais put the Hawks on top less-than-two minutes into the first period, and Jake Gricius doubled the advantage 40 seconds after the start of the middle frame to leave Winnipeg trailing by two going to the third period for a second straight night. But unlike Saturday in Everett, WA, the ICE couldn't comeback for the victory. Gricius notched his second of the game on a Portland power play 77 seconds into the third period to stretch the lead to three, before Michal Teply's team co-leading eighth goal of the season moved Winnipeg within a pair. However, there was no magic with the goalie out and an extra-skater on as the Winterhawks found the empty net to complete a 4-1 win. ICE Captain Peyton Krebs made his season debut after a five-month injury absence and notched the primary assist on Winnipeg's lone goal. Connor McClennon recorded the other assist on the tally that gave the ICE late hope. Winnipeg was held off the board on three second period power plays and finished the game 0-for-6 with the man-advantage, while Portland was 1-of-2 when up a player. Jesse Makaj suffered the loss making 25 saves on 28 shots. Teply, the ICE scoring leader, now has registered a point in five-of-six totaling three goals and four assists over that period to improve to 20 points in 21 games.
