Colorado Crush News Release

Fort Collins, CO - The Colorado Ice Professional Indoor Football team got their first taste of victory over the New Mexico Stars this season. The final score of the game was 58-9, crushing the Stars' hope to sweep the Ice in a 3 game series.

Defense was a strong theme in the first quarter and the Ice returned to form with an interception by DB Josh Morris (#21). RB Tobias Robinson (#22) put the Ice on the scoreboard with a touchdown just 6 minutes into the first quarter. Another interception by LB Joseph Thornton (#3) gave the Ice the edge they needed to keep the Stars from scoring. A 40 yard bomb from QB Jeremy Sanders (#8) to WR Mark Henderson (#4) ended the scoring for the first quarter but the defense never let the Stars get close to the end zone.

The Ice led 14-0 going into the second quarter and Sanders (#8) carried for a touchdown to add to their lead. The defense was determined to hold the Stars to a low score and an interception by DB Idly Etienne (#43) ensured this. With 8:19 left in the half WR James Walton (#6) scored to further the gap between the Ice and the Stars. Desperate times call for desperate measures and in an attempt to put themselves on the scoreboard, the Stars went for a field goal; however they were unsuccessful. DL Antoine Carter (#44) completed a sack on the Stars QB, Arkelon Hall. Another successful pass from Sanders (#8) to Henderson (#4) added to the Ice's score and momentum. The Stars showed up to the game with less than 12 seconds left and completed a safety, ending the half with a score of 35-2.

The third quarter was relatively quiet as both teams battled back and forth. Sander's (#8) carried for a touchdown and was the only score of the quarter. Etienne (#43) got his second interception of the game, giving the ice the boost they needed to clinch the win.

A touchdown by Robinson (#22) started the fourth quarter off and DB C.J. Lovett (#7) completed the fifth interception by the Ice against the Stars. The Ice allowed the Stars to score one touchdown with 9 minutes left in the game. A safety completed by DL Chris Bradwell (#93) completed the scoring, leaving the Ice with a victory. Kicker, Aric Goodman (#9) went good on all 8 PAT's.

DB Idly Etienne (#43) was named Runza Player of the Week for his defensive efforts and his 2 interception performance.

The Ice will be on the road next week to battle the Everett Raptors in Everett, Washington. For fans who wish to view this game, visit www.thecoloradoice.com and click on America One to watch the game, 1310 KFKA AM to listen to the game or get live stats from www.poinstreak.com.
