Cedar Rapids, IA, 5/18/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, beat the Cedar Rapids Titans 29-13 on the road Friday night. With the win the Edge are 8-3 on the season and they remain in 3rd place in the United Conference. The Edge can do no worse than tie for the last playoff spot in the United Conference. Dusty Burk completed 19 of 27 passes with 3 touchdowns. Ricardo Lenhart caught all three of those touchdown passes. He had 86 receiving yards. John Cooper had 70 receiving yards. Andre Raymond rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown.

The Edge started the game by holding the Titans to a missed 50 yard field goal attempt and then stopping the Titans offense on the 1 yard line on 4th down. Bloomington then marched down field where Dusty Burk hit Ricardo Lenhart for a touchdown pass. Defense was the story of the opening quarter and the Edge led 7-0 at the end of the 1st.

The Edge defense started the 2nd quarter with a big stop just like the opening quarter. They held the Titans to a field goal attempt and Cedar Rapids missed that one as well. Bloomington made it to the Titans' goal line but fumbled. But the defense picked up for the offense by sacking the Cedar Rapids quarterback for a safety. On the resulting drive Burk hit Lenhart again on a 25 yard touchdown pass to make it 16-0. Ricardo Lenhart caught his third touchdown pass of the game a short time later. With 1:05 to play in the 2nd quarter the Titans finally got on the board with a 33 yard field goal. The Titans missed a field goal at the end of the quarter so the Edge led 23-3 at halftime.

The 3rd was scoreless. The Edge defense kept up their excellent work. The Titans had some chances to kick field goals but opted to run fakes to get an advantage. None worked. The Edge still led 23-3 entering the 4th quarter.

Andre Raymond started the 4th quarter by rushing for a touchdown. He now has 16 on the season which ties the Extreme/Edge single season rush touchdown record. Raymond scored 16 last season. On another Drive Raymond was caught for a safety. Later in the quarter the Titans threw their first touchdown of the game. They converted a two-point conversion to make it 29-13.

The Edge are back home next week to take on the Chicago Slaughter on May 25 at 7:05 pm. It is the fourth game between the two teams. The Edge are 2-1 against the Slaughter this year. For more information on the Edge visit bloomingtonedge.com and the IFL at goifl.com.
