Bloomington Edge 3-0 Heading Into Game #4

July 26, 2018 - Indoor Football League (IFL) - Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL. - Saturday July 28th the Bloomington Edge hosts their 4th game of the summer season taking on the New England Bobcats who are the 2018 League Champions of the Elite Indoor Football League. The Edge has steamed rolled through their season so far and has an average margin of victory of 44.6 points over their first three games. The Edge defense is only surrendering a meager 12.6 points per game in large part due to the outstanding play of rookie linebacker Mitch Globe.

Globe played his high school ball at Tom C. Clark high school in San Antonio, Texas. Another notable professional football player that came from Clark was Wane McGarity who played wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.

After high school, Globe attended college at Trinity University where he started every game during his four years. He was an inspirational leader in the locker room, and voted team captain his senior year by his teammates. Other college accolades included Trinity's Spencer Street Leadership Award as well as being voted SAA First Team All-Conference. Before he left Trinity, Globe was 13th in total career tackles. Now his journey has brought him to Illinois.

"Football is my passion and one of my deepest loves," said Globe. "I've dreamt about playing professional football in the NFL since I first began playing. I want to play as long as I possibly can and am doing the things that will hopefully allow me to make it a career."

In his short time in Bloomington, Globe is winning over fans with his aggressive play on the field and winning over parents with his community involvement. In less than six weeks, Globe has volunteered his time with the Boys and Girls Club, Youth Build McLean County, Normal Parks and Recreation summer camps, the YMCA, and he coached the Edge's free youth training camp last weekend.

"I felt extremely grateful and excited when the Edge contacted me," Globe commented. "I knew it was a blessing for me to get this opportunity, so I wanted to make sure I am returning the favor by supporting our community. When I am on the field during a game and getting tired, but I see some of the kids from the Boys and Girls club cheering for me, there is just no way I could even take a single play off with. Not when they are looking up to me. No way." Your next chance to see Globe and the rest of the Bloomington Edge players is this Saturday July 28th. As always, fans will be invited onto the field after the game to meet their favorite players and get picture and autographs. Kick-off is at 7pm at Grossinger Motors Arena with the doors opening at 6pm. Single game tickets and season FLEX tickets are available at www.bloomingtonedge.net.
