Indianapolis Ice News Release

LEADER OF THE PACK: With five out of a possible six points last week, the Ice climbed into a first-place tie with Oklahoma City for the top spot in the Northern Conference. The race atop the conference remains crowded as the five-team group consisting of Indy, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Tulsa and Amarillo went 8-2-4 last week keeping the point separation from first to fifth at just eight points. Indianapolis, who is 13-2-1 in its last 16 games, has the best winning percentage (.692) of the five squads and still has games in hand with Memphis, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. In addition, the Ice is a collective 11-3-4 against the four teams this year.

ALL-STAR BOUND: All-stars Shawn Silver and Bernie John leave this week for Thursday night's CHL All-Star Game in Oklahoma City, OK. He also remains second in the CHL overall in GAA (1.78) and save percentage (.934). John, who will be making his third consecutive all-star appearance, has quietly scaled his way up the CHL leaderboard among defensemen. SILVER AND HASEK AND WAITE, OH MY!: With his fourth shutout of the year on Friday, four-time CHL Goaltender of the Week Shawn Silver set the new Ice CHL mark for shutouts in a season breaking the old mark of three previously held by teammate Jamie Morris (2001-02) and 1999-00 netminder Benoit Thibert. He is now one shutout away from equaling the franchise record of five set by a pair of familiar names in Dominik Hasek (1990-91) and Jimmy Waite (1989-90).

IN THE ZONE: Jason Baird is riding a three-game goal streak which includes two game-winners and he has 14 points (6G, 8A) in his last nine games...Kevin St. Jacques has 13 points (1G, 12A) in his last nine games...Jared Dumba registered his team-leading fourth multiple goal game of the year on Saturday...Scott Lewis has four points (3G, 1A) in his last four games...Bernie John has ten points (4G, 6A) in his last nine games...Randy Holmes has three assists in his last two games.
