The Colorado Ice (4-2) held the RiverCity Rage (5-1) to just one touchdown to hand them their first loss of the season, defeating them 31-6 Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center. The win moves Colorado closer to the lead in the division. Next week's opponent, the Sioux Falls Storm, is the only undefeated team in the league. The Ice put up six points off a seven yard rush by Eugene Reed in the first quarter and Deric Yaussi added one to put Colorado up 7-0. Newly acquired running back Ryan Drinkwater pushed the score to 14-0 with a four yard rush in the middle of the second quarter. The Ice's third touchdown of the half came when Ryan Clement connected with Josiah Richmond for an eight yard score.

RiverCity's opening possession of the third quarter ended in a turnover on downs which led the Ice to another score and another rushing touchdown for Reed. Yaussi hit a 48-yard field goal attempt at the beginning of the fourth to give the Ice their final points, leading 31-0. Quarterback Matt Guitterrez played the fourth quarter for the Ice, going two-for-four on passes for 34 yards.

The Rage got their only score when Anthony Fisher led his team two plays and 35 yards to connect with Hurtis Chinn for an eight yard score. Derek Kutz's point after failed and neither team was able to convert on their subsequent two series.

Defensive backs Travis Garcia and Corey Johnson each added an interception to their season totals; Garcia leads the league with five picks. Ryan Palmer led the defense with six total tackles, one for a one yard loss. Ryan Clement completed four of fourteen attempts for 37 total yards, but rushed for a season-high 28. Week Seven Preview: Sioux Falls Storm

One down, one to go. The Colorado Ice (4-2) are preparing to take on the only undefeated team left in the league, the Sioux Falls Storm (5-0), this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the Budweiser Events Center. They handed the RiverCity Rage their first loss of the season last weekend, defeating them 31-6. The game is themed "Cinco de Mayo" and doors will open at 6 p.m.

This will be the first of three meetings this season between Colorado and Sioux Falls as they vie for the top spot in the West. The Ice are looking to defend their 3-0 home record while the Storm are searching for their 26th consecutive victory. Colorado is looking to be the first team to break the Storm's streak, who own back-to-back UIF championships in 2005 and 2006. Colorado will host Sioux Falls again on June 2 before they travel to Sioux Falls on June 30.

The Ice are coming off an impressive victory over the Rage in week six, holding them to a single touchdown in the fourth quarter. Colorado's running game was led by Eugene Reed who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Reed, who now has 387 yards this season, has held the top spot on the rushing charts for the league since week one. The Ice put up 157 rushing yards, 19 more yards than RiverCity's total offense. Colorado's defense will be key to an Ice victory and defensive back Travis Garcia will be looking to add to his league leading five interceptions.

Sioux Falls was graced with a bye in week six, but recorded their 25th straight victory since 2005 over the Billings Outlaws on April 21 in their season home opener. Marques Smith leads the league with 12 rushing touchdowns, but is third to Reed (387) and RiverCity's Muhammad Abdulqaadir (293) in yards with a total of 292. Quarterback Terrance Bryant is sitting behind Lexington's Kewan Dewberry (.72) with a .61 completion percentage. In the first five games, Bryant has thrown for 1228 yards, 29 touchdowns and only two interceptions.
