Colorado Crush News Release
Fort Collins, CO-The Colorado Ice Professional Indoor Football team shattered the Allen Wranglers perfect record 61-55 in a back and forth battle to pull even in the season.
The Ice now 2-2 started out strong with a 50 yard field goal by Aric Goodman (#9), a kickoff return by Duane Brooks (#2) and a 21 yard strike from QB David Knighton (#5) to Mark Henderson (#4). However, it was a stout defensive effort including DB Corey Sample's (#20) early interception to hold the Wranglers to only 3 points in the first quarter.
In a second quarter that saw both offenses catch fire, the Ice were able to add to their lead going into halftime. Offensively the Ice saw scores on a 13 yard connection from Knighton (#5) to Henderson (#4) and a 7 yard dash by Tobias Robinson (#22). Conversely on the other side of the ball the Ice defense continued its success when DL Darius Hart (#91) returned a Terrell Owens fumble for a touchdown.
An evenly matched third quarter had the crowd on edge as Robinson (#22) carried for a 4 yard touchdown for the Ice's only score of the quarter.
Both teams scored 17 points in the fourth quarter. Brooks (#2) had a two yard dive for a touchdown while teammate and rookie kicker, Goodman (#9) booted a 43 yard field goal, for his second of the game. With 1:07 on the clock, RB Andre Harris (#6) carried it in from 5 yards out to seal the victory for the Ice.
DL Darius Hart (#91) was named Runza Player of the Week for totaling 3 tackles as wells as a key fumble recovery for a touchdown.
The Ice will return to the Budweiser Events Center March 31st, 2012 as they take on the Everett Raptors. Tickets for this game are available and can be purchased by calling the Colorado Ice office at (970) 472-0128.
