Ice Pilots beat Kingfish 3-1

Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
Two first period goals were all the Pensacola Ice Pilots needed to slip past the Baton Rouge Kingfish, 3-1 at the Centroplex.
Greg Pankewicz's one-timer in the high slot at the 2:38 mark of the first period gave the Ice Pilots a 1-0 lead. Matt Elich fed Pankewicz on the give-and-go to set up the play.
A little under a minute later, the Kingfish answered as Trevor Wasyluk's hard work paid off as he slipped the puck past Mixime Gingras to tie the contest at 1-1. Glenn Crawford added an assist on the power play goal.
Pensacola regained the lead at the 11:48 mark of the first as Jeremy Van Hoof beat Blair over the shoulder on a bad angle shot right along the goal line. Chris Minard and Chad Theuer picked up helpers on the goal.
Pensacola out shot the Kingfish in the first period 14-11, but Baton Rouge went 1 for 1 on the power play, picking up the Kingfish's only goal on the man advantage.
Pensacola picked up its final goal, and empty net tally, with just one second remaining in the third period as Matt Elich flipped the loose puck into the net from his own blue line. Josh Harrold and Minard added the assists.
The Kingfish could not solve Gingras who made 29 saves in the win. Baton Rogue out shot Pensacola in the second period, 9-3, and 10-6 in the third period while preventing the Ice Pilots from picking up a power play goal in the game.
