January 8, 2020 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Winnipeg Ice News Release

The ICE and Tigers will meet for the second time this season. The first meeting between the two clubs took place on October 11th in Medicine Hat. The Tigers took that one by a score of 5-2 on their home ice.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead midway through the second period but the ICE would respond. Jakin Smallwood and Connor McClennon brought the ICE back within a goal just over a minute into the third period. The Tigers eventually added a couple more, one being on the empty net to skate away with the victory.

The ICE will look to build off of a split with the Raiders last weekend which moved their record to 7-3-0-0 over the last ten games. The Tigers played in Brandon a night ago losing 4-3 and moving their record over the last ten games to 5-4-0-1.

The ICE currently sit one point in front of the Prince Albert Raiders for first spot in the East Division.

LAST GAME - 5-3 LOSS TO PRINCE ALBERT: The Winnipeg ICE finished off their two-game series with the Prince Albert Raiders on Sunday night at the ICE Cave in Wayne Fleming Arena. The ICE got a crucial 6-3 win against the Raiders on Saturday night that saw them stay atop the East Division.

For the second straight night Owen Pederson put the ICE up early, with his 16th of the season coming only 1:19 into the game. Nolan Orzeck and Connor McClennon drew the assists on the goal. After Ozzy Wiesblatt tied things up for the Raiders, the ICE regained the lead as Pederson scored his second of the period to put the ICE up 2-1. Raider's leading scorer Aliaksei Protas tied things up on a powerplay three minutes later as the teams headed into the first intermission at 2-2.

It was all Prince Albert in the second period, as Reece Vitelli scored two goals in the frame, and Brayden Watts scored another one as the Raiders would take a 5-2 lead into the third period. The shots were 23-19 in favor of Prince Albert after two periods.

Cole Muir would get the ICE within two goals in the third period but that was as far as they would get as the Raiders took their revenge with a 5-3 win.
