Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
The Pensacola Ice Flyers announced a few weeks ago that there would be a Dance/Promotions Team performing at games during the upcoming season. The excitement over that announcement has been steadily building in the community and the Ice Flyers are now looking to begin filling roster spots with talented fans!
An open call will be held on Saturday, August 14th at 8:30am for interested women with dance experience, outgoing personalities, and a desire to be a part of the best show on ice! The primary objectives of the team will be customer service, fan interaction, promotions, and performance. This squad will be much more than just a typical dance group. Participants are asked to bring a resume, photo, $25 audition fee, and be prepared to learn and perform a new routine.
The team, which is yet to be named, will be captained by veteran performer, Jessica Jensen. Jessica has been performing since she was 12 and has held notable roles in area shows such as South Pacific, Cabaret, and Rocky Horror Show. Many people, however, will remember Jessica from the hit Fox TV Show, So You Think You Can Dance. Jessica has been instrumental in the development and conceptualization of the team this season and is ".excited about not only getting to hire 15 dancers to choreograph and perform, but also about the impact we could make on the youth of our community through community service. I look forward to developing a promotional squad and presenting a team of Pensacola's fiercest dancers this season". When asked about the reason for the dance team, Aaron Epstein, Director of Game Presentation, said, "We are working on creating an exciting environment in which fans will enjoy not only the action on the ice, but the events around it. Most NHL teams and many minor league teams are using dance/promo squads and when we had an opportunity to partner with Jessica, it all seemed to come together. we are very excited about welcoming them to the Ice Flyers' family!"
