
ICE Earn Eastern Conference Playoff Spot

The Winnipeg ICE clinched a playoff spot in the WHL's Eastern Conference Wednesday night with a 5-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
Owen Pederson, Matthew Savoie, Ben Zloty, Evan Friesen and Josh Medernach scored as the ICE improved their record to 41-7-1. Winnipeg completed their four game homestand with a 4-0 record outscoring their opposition 27-12.
Connor Hvidston replied with two goals for Swift Current, Caleb Wyrostok had the other.
Winnipeg outshot the Broncos 35-31 as Daniel Hauser earned the victory in net for the ICE. Reid Dyck allowed four goals on 21 shots before being pulled in favour of Joey Rocha who stopped 13 of 14 over the final 27:17.
The ICE went 0/3 on the power play and gave up a short handed goal against. Swift Current was 1/6.
Winnipeg now embarks on a 10 game road trip starting Friday in Moose Jaw (6:30 on CFRW 1290 AM / 7:00 on WHL Live via CHL TV).
