
Ice Bears Dominate Final Home Game

Knoxville, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears took the second game of a home and home against Huntsville in front of a rambunctious crowd of 3,997.
The first period started slowly with not much in the zone action. Most of the play was centered in the neutral zone until Knoxville broke through with a two-on-one chance. Eric Satim cut down the slot and sent a pass to Brendan Taylor that slipped through and Taylor beat goaltender Jesse Kallechy top shelf.
Satim continued his scoring barrage in the second period, this time with a goal. Just 3:40 into the period, Satim received a pass from Mark Van Vliet and passed up an opportunity to hit Brendan Taylor for a one timer in the circle but decided to take it himself. Satim went to the backhand and flipped it over the right shoulder Kallechy.
Mike Gurtler cut the Knoxville lead to 2-1 with a goal with 3:14 left in the second. Gurtler threw a shot on net and recovered the rebound and sent a shot past goaltender Bryan Hince.
The Ice Bears answered to start the third period with a power play goal from Jeremy Klaver. Knoxville set up the power play in the zone with Klaver camping at the point. Taylor snapped a pass to Klaver who ripped a slap shot for Knoxville's third goal of the game.
Knoxville scored another 4:25 in to the period, this time shorthanded. Jon Higgins stole the puck in the Huntsville zone and skated all the way down to the circle. He hit Matt Pierce with a backhanded pass, which led to Pierce backhanding the puck from right in front of the net and beat Kallechy short side.
Huntsville pulled within two with a power play goal from Nick Lazorko. Lazorko redirected the puck the over the leg pad of Hince. That goal was not enough for Huntsville, with the final score of 4-2.
The Ice Bears will be back on home ice next Friday, March 29 for the first playoff game of 2013 in search of its fourth President's Cup Championship. Puck drops at 7:35, call and reserve your seats now as space is limited. Kids 12 and under get in free for Silver Level tickets only. One kid per paying adult.
