Ice Adds Pair of Big Defensemen

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has added defensemen Nate Elliott and Jamie Carroll to its training camp roster. To make room for the duo, the team released defensemen Brad Lutsch and Keith Maurice.

Elliott, who stands at 6-2, 215 pounds, will be making his pro debut after a solid four-year run with the Oswego State Lakers (SUNYAC- NCAA-III). The big d-man was a First Team All-Conference Selection after leading all league defensemen in scoring with 24 points (7G, 17A) to go along with four power play goals and 62 penalty minutes. Overall, he amassed 70 points (24G, 46A) and over 150 penalty minutes in his four years at the school.

Carroll, 22, was team captain last season for the UMass-Dartmouth Corsairs (ECAC Northeast- NCAA-III). He has led the Corsairs in scoring among defensemen the past two seasons and compiled 16 points (1G, 15A) and a team-leading 49 penalty minutes in 23 games last year. In four years at the school, the 6-1, 195-pound blueliner registered 45 points (4G, 41A) and over 150 penalty minutes.

The Ice has a pre-season game tonight against the Memphis RiverKings when the two teams collide at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum. The two clubs then head south for a Saturday night contest in Memphis to complete the home and home pre-season series.

The Indianapolis Ice opens up the regular season and its 15th season of hockey in the "Circle City" with a pair of home games next weekend as the team hosts the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, October 18th and the Memphis RiverKings on Saturday, October 19th. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum.
