
Iannicca Named CL Trainer of the Year

Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks are proud to announce that athletic trainer Dave Iannicca has been named the Carolina League Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society. With the honor, Iannicca becomes one of 17 finalists for the Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year Award, which will be announced and awarded at Baseball's Winter Meetings.
Iannicca is in his third season as athletic trainer for the Blue Rocks and his fourth with the Kansas City Royals organization. In 2007 he served as athletic trainer for the Burlington Royals (APP).
He began his professional baseball career in 2003, spending two years as an athletic training intern in the New York Yankees organization. He spent time during that span with the Columbus Clippers (IL) and with the Yankees Player Development Complex in Tampa, FL. In 2006 he spent a season with the Atlanta Braves organization, as athletic trainer for the Gulf Coast Braves.
Prior to his time in professional baseball Iannicca worked as an athletic trainer at the collegiate level. He was a graduate assistant at Virginia Wesleyan.
Iannicca earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training from Bowling Green State University in 2003 and his master's of science in education degree from Old Dominion University in 2006. He and his wife, Jacquelin, live in Fredericksburg, VA during the offseason.
