BROOKLYN BACK-AND-FORTH: Today's series finale against the Brooklyn Cyclones wraps up the first of two trips to Dutchess Stadium in the second half of the year for the Cyclones, who return from July 26-31. The Renegades and Cyclones play 30 times this season, with this series representing the third of five series. Hudson Valley is 9-8 across the first 17 meetings in a very competitive season series.

SO, ABOUT LAST NIGHT...: The Renegades combined to two-hit the Cyclones in a 2-1 victory on Saturday night. Yoendrys Gómez, Jhonatan Muñoz and Ryan Miller allowed one unearned run, walked three and struck out eight. Tyler Hardman blasted his team-leading 10th home run, a solo shot in the fourth, and Trey Sweeney knocked the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth. The game lasted a very manageable two hours and four minutes.

PEREIRA YARD WORK: Everson Pereira continues his assault on the Renegades record book, and enters play Friday just one home run shy of the all-time franchise record. Pereira has been on a roll in the last two-and-a-half weeks, clubbing five long balls, including a pair of two-homer games. The Yankees No. 3 prospect (Baseball America) has five career multi-homer games, including four with Hudson Valley.

SPEED DEMON: Cooper Bowman stole his 29th base of the season as part of a double steal in the sixth inning on Friday night. That is the most steals in a single season by a Renegades player since Jake Fraley set the franchise record with 33 in 2016. Bowman has been successful in 13 of his last 14 stolen base attempts, and is 42-for-47 (.894) on steals in his career.

SWEENEY SHINING: Trey Sweeney is 5-for-11 with three doubles, three walks, three RBIs and three runs scored in the current series. That's continued a larger surge for the shortstop, who hit .270/.363/.472 with 4 HR and 16 RBIs in June. Sweeney has hit safely in 13 of his last 15 games.

RECORD-SETTING SERIES: In this series alone against Brooklyn, the Renegades have seen two all-time franchise records be broken. Everson Pereira became the team's all-time runs scored leader (74) on Tuesday night when he surpassed Chris Winder's previous record of 72. Nelson Alvarez moved into a tie for first all-time in pitching appearances on Wednesday night when he appeared in his 48th game with the Renegades. With the team's move to a full-season club before the 2021 season, there are several more individual and team records in jeopardy before the end of the season.

HISTORIC THIEVES: The Renegades have stolen 142 bases on the season, already the second-highest total in team history. Hudson Valley's all-time record is well within reach --149 in 2021. At their current rate, the Renegades are on pace to steal an incredible 257 bases this season. Infielder James Nelson has 31 career SB with HV, just 2 shy of Jake Fraley's team record, while Cooper Bowman is closing in as well with 29.

HARDMAN HEATING UP: After a slow start to the season, infielder Tyler Hardman has been swinging a hot bat, picking up hits in 21 of his last 26 games. He delivered his team-leading 10th home run of the season last night, continuing a hot stretch that has lifted his season batting line from .173/.279/.298 to .249/.326/.444, a 193-point jump in his OPS. The stretch was punctuated by his first career multi-HR game on 6/15 at Greensboro.

DOUBLE DIGIT DINGERS: Tyler Hardman's fourth-inning home run on Saturday night against Brooklyn was his 10th of the season, making him the first Renegade to reach double figures this season. In 2021, the Renegades had five players reach double digits in home runs, led by Josh Breaux's 17. Before last year, the last Renegade to hit 10-or-more home runs was Hunter Lockwood in 2014 (13). In Hudson Valley's entire Short Season Era (1994-2019), only six players reached double figures in home runs in a season. It had only been done three times since the start of the 2000 season.

A NEW ERA: The Renegades pitching staff sports a 3.60 ERA on the season, the second-best in the South Atlantic League (Wilmington, 3.39). It also ranks as the fifth-best staff ERA in High-A, and the 11th-best in the minor leagues. All four Yankees affiliated teams rank in the top 30 in the minors in ERA -- Somerset 3.47, 6th; Tampa 3.64, 12th; Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 3.92, t-25th.

HISTORIC NIGHT: The Hudson Valley Renegades set a new franchise record on Friday night when they grounded into five double plays against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Gades bounced into twin killings in the first, second, fourth, seventh and eighth innings of a 6-2 loss. The previous known franchise record was four GIDPs, having been done two times -- Aug. 10, 2018 at Tri-City and Aug. 23, 2006 vs. Brooklyn.

ALL-TIME ALVAREZ: Reliever Nelson Alvarez has his sights set on two of the Renegades all-time pitching records. Recording the final five outs to notch his second save of the season on Wednesday, he jumped into a three-way tie for the most all-time in total appearances with 48, joining Oscar Bustillos and Jason Jimenez atop the franchise leaderboard. Alvarez also has racked up seven wins out of the bullpen, which puts him just behind teammate Charlie Ruegger (8) for second on the all-time relief wins list, two shy of Mike Venafro's mark (9) set in 1995.
