Huskies top Juniors in OT 2 to 1

Montreal, January 28th, 2010- Without a convincing victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs, the Montreal Juniors look to continue their strong showing as they start a six-game road stand starting the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies tonight. The Juniors showed a good effort, but felt short in overtime by the score of 2 to 1. It was Huskies forward Sergei Ostapchuk, who lifted the Huskies over the Juniors with overtime winner.

In the first period, Jordon Caron got the Huskies on the board with the only goal of the period as he scored his thirteenth of the season at 9:47 from Philippe Cornet.

The Juniors tied it in the second when Trevor Parkes buried the puck past Nicolas Champion at 3:15 from David Stich and David Rose for this twentieth of the season on the power play.

With both goaltenders standing tall in the third period, the game went to overtime with a goal apiece. It was the Russian native, Sergei Ostapchuk, who scored the game winner at 2:15 of the overtime period. The Huskies would top the Juniors 2 to 1.

Juniors goaltender Jean-Francois Berube was sharp in the net as he denied 40/42 shots in the loss. Huskies Nicolas Champion stopped 26/27 shots in the win. The Juniors record is now at 24-20-1-3 and the Huskies are 29-18-2-2.

The Juniors will play against the Huskies tomorrow night before they head to Chicoutimi to face the Sagueneens on Sunday. The next home game will be on February 12th when the Juniors take on the Val-d'Or Foreurs at 7:35PM.
