Hurricanes to Select Second in May's WHL Bantam Draft

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes will have the second overall pick after finishing runners-up to the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Hockey League Draft Lottery which was held Wednesday in Calgary at league headquarters. The WHL Bantam Draft will take place on Thursday, May 7th, 2015.

It is the second year in a row that the Hurricanes will have the second overall pick after drafting Jordy Bellerive in the same spot a season ago. The Hurricanes finished 21st in the WHL standings this season after completing the year with a 20-44-5-3 record. The Hurricanes had a total of five balls in the 21 ball lottery.

The Hurricanes will draft second in every subsequent round after the first round as well (not including traded draft picks). Players eligible for the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft will have 2000 birthdays.

The top six selections in this year's draft will be:

Spokane Chiefs (from Saskatoon)

Lethbridge Hurricanes

Vancouver Giants

Moose Jaw Warriors (from Kamloops)

Prince Albert Raiders

Moose Jaw Warriors
