
Hurricanes Fall to Mill Rats

Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club were in action January 28th at the Scotiabank Centre against the Saint John Mill Rats. The Hurricanes fell 104-115 to the Mill Rats. With this loss the Hurricanes now have a record of 9-4, leading the Atlantic Conference in wins. With this win, the Mill Rats have a record of 8-5 and are in second place in the Atlantic Division.
Hurricanes trailed the Mill Rats 22-23 after the first quarter, and at halftime the Hurricanes trailed the Mill Rats 43-54. The Hurricanes were outscored by the Mill Rats 25-30 in the third quarter, trailing 68-83 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Hurricanes outscored the Mill Rats 36-31, but not enough to earn a victory over the Mill Rats.
Forward, Kyle Hunt scored 18 points for the Hurricanes. Guard, Cliff Clinkscales scored 18 points and had 10 assists. Guard, Joseph Bertrand scored 13 points. Forward, Billy White scored 13 points. Guard, Shane Gibson scored 12 points. Guard, Justin Johnson scored 9 points.
Forward, Johnny Mayhane led the Mill Rats with 26 points. Forward, Gabe Freeman scored 22 points. Forward, Anthony Stover scored 19 points grabbed 9 rebounds. Guard, Anthony Anderson scored 17 points. Guard, Corey Almond scored 12 points coming off the bench. Forward, Jean-Richard Volcy scored 10 points.
The Hurricanes will face the Island Storm on February 5th at the Scotiabank Centre.
