Hurricanes Edge out Central Division-Leading St. John's in Exciting Home-Court Win

The Hurricanes were even with the first place team through the first quarter and outscored the Edge in every quarter after that, despite an impressive afternoon from beyond the three-point line for St. John's, who as a team hit 11 threes on the game.

The Hurricanes offence was humming. As a team, they shot 50 per cent from the floor, dished out 28 assists and converted 13 points out of fast breaks.

Jordan Washington lead Halifax in the first half with 17 points, finishing with 19 points in 16 minutes played off the bench.

Mike Poole took over the game in the second half and finished with a game-high 30 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Rhamel Brown was dominant down low, finishing with a 16 point, 10 rebound double-double. Brown had a hard task containing former Boston Celtic Glen Davis, who finished 13 points, eight rebounds in his debut game at Scotiabank Centre.

The Edge were led by Desmond Lee who scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed six rebounds.

The Hurricanes head to Sydney Cape Breton tomorrow for a New Year's Eve rematch against the Highlanders. The Hurricanes will be looking for their first win of the season against their Nova Scotia rivals.
