Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SURPRISE, AZ - The Northwest Arkansas Naturals' bats came alive Thursday, rapping out 11 hits en route to a 6-4 loss to the Huntsville Stars, the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate. The loss evens the Naturals' spring training record at 3-3.
First baseman Kila Kaaihue had a big game for the Naturals, with three hits and two RBI, including a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth that brought the Naturals within two runs. Right fielder Brian McFall had two hits, and shortstop Ed Lucas had three hits and a stolen base.
Blake Johnson started for the Naturals and went five innings, scattering seven hits and allowing two runs and one walk. Relievers Matt Campbell and Jarod Plummer each pitched two innings of relief, and each allowed two runs. However, two costly errors by Naturals third basemen Mario Lisson and James Van Der Keere led to two of those runs being unearned.
The Naturals have a total of 13 spring games on their Arizona schedule before breaking camp on March 28th. Friday, the Naturals will face the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and will begin play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale, on Thursday, April 10th against the San Antonio Missions. You can purchase season tickets and group outings with the Naturals by calling (479) 927-4900. There are only 21 DAYS REMAINING until Opening Day!
