GREENVILLE, S.C., March 19 – The Huntsville Flight has acquired Bryant Matthews from the NBA's National Basketball Development League available player pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations and player personnel Chris Alpert and Flight head coach Ralph Lewis.

Matthews fills the roster spot of Damone Brown, who was signed to a 10-day contract by the Washington Wizards today, making him the ninth GATORADE Call-Up this season and the 48th overall.

At 6-7, 215, Matthews can play both forward and guard. As a senior at Virginia Tech ('04), he averaged 22.1 points and 8.9 rebounds and was a first team All-Big East selection. He led the Big East in scoring and was third in rebounding. His most recent stop was in Australia, where he averaged 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds for the Brisbane Bullets. He has also played internationally in Portugal.

Matthews is expected to be in uniform when the Flight hosts Columbus tonight at the Von Braun Center.
