Asheville Rebounds With 21 Point Victory Over Florida 106-85

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Joe Forte led all scorers with 25 points coming off the bench for Asheville as the Altitude defeated the Florida Flame 106-85 in front of 1,725 fans at Germain Arena. The 21 point loss was the worst at home for the Flame this season. Smush Parker paced the way for the Flame, scoring 20 points, dishing out eight assists, and recording five steals. The win improved Asheville's record to 23-17, while Florida dropped to 12-28.

Asheville placed four scorers in double-figures. Ron Slay scored 22, Kirk Penney scored 15, Terrence Shannon scored 12, and Tony Kitchings scored 10.

For the Flame, Tim Pickett scored a season high 19 points and Kirk Haston added 17 in the loss.

The third period proved to be the difference, as Asheville used a 21-7 run midway through the quarter and then a 10-2 run at the end of the third to put the game out of reach and grabbed a 29 point lead. Asheville shot a blistering 63-percent from the floor in the period and held the Flame to only six field goals (28-percent).

Asheville ended the game shooting 54-percent from the floor.

Florida continues their four-game home stand with a midweek series versus the Huntsville Flight starting on Tuesday. Asheville continues their road trip with a Tuesday night tip-off at the Roanoke Civic Center versus the Dazzle.
