Sussex Skyhawks News Release
SUSSEX, NJ (May 17, 2006) - Spring Training is underway and the Sussex Skyhawks are preparing for the launch of their inaugural season, both on the field and off. The Skyhawks home season begins with Opening Day festivities on May 29, 7:05 p.m. at Skylands Park in Augusta, NJ, and will culminate that night with a fireworks display that will light up the Sussex night sky. In addition, the team has planned a wealth of interesting promotions to interest any baseball fan, including an appearance by Hall of Fame Catcher Yogi Berra, a new car giveaway, and a second fireworks night after the game on Friday, June 2, 7:05 p.m.
Before the May 30, 2006 game versus the North Shore Spirit at 7:05 p.m., the team will be hosting an autograph session with Yogi Berra. Autographs are open only to ticket holders for that night's game. On the day of the game, vouchers for the autograph session will be handed out beginning at 3:30 p.m. Autographs will begin signing at 5:00 p.m. and are strictly limited to the first 500 fans in line. The Skyhawks have teamed with Acura of Denville to allow one lucky fan the opportunity to win a two-year lease of a 2006 Acura TL. During the first three games, fans eighteen years and older will have the opportunity to enter a free drawing to win a free two-year lease of the car, or second prize, a trip for four to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The drawing for the winners will take place during the 7:05 p.m. contest versus the Brockton Rox on Saturday, June 3; winners need not be present.
"Opening Night is right around the corner, and we can't wait to get started," said Wittkowski. "We have worked extremely hard during this off-season, and we are now ready to bring our brand of family entertainment to all the baseball fans of Sussex County. We are very proud of the team we will be putting on the field and the events we have planned around the start of the season."
As promised, the Skyhawks have cut prices across the board. Individual game tickets are now $10 for box seats, $8 for reserved seats and $6 for general admission bleachers. Parking fees will now be $3 per automobile.
In an effort to make Skylands Park more family-friendly, the Skyhawks are implementing an expanded concessions menu utilizing new food preparation facilities installed by the organization during the offseason. In addition to fan-favorites like hot dogs and hamburgers, the team will now offer many specialty items such as Buffalo wings, popcorn chicken nuggets and fried shrimp. While offering this expanded new menu, the team has lowered the prices of all concessions; hot dogs that cost $3.50 at Skylands Park last year now cost $2.25.
Single-game tickets are now available for the upcoming 2006 season, including the launch of the team's new online ticket availability on the team's website, www.skyhawks.com . In addition to using the team's website, tickets can be obtained in many different ways. The box office at Skylands Park is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday to Friday and 10 a.m-1 p.m. on Saturdays. Tickets can also be purchased via phone at 973 300 1000 or via hard mail by printing out an order form and mailing it in. In all cases, the consumer will have the option of having the tickets mailed to an address or held at the will call booth on the day of the game.
The Skyhawks are also offering many different group discounts packages. Season tickets are available for $380 for box seats and $300 for reserved seats. Also available are 6, 12 and 25 game mini-plans, picnic and birthday packages. Please visit www.sussexskyhawks.com for more information.
