Peoria Rivermen News Release

PEORIA - Alex Hudson scored a game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation and the game-winner in the final minute of extra time as the Peoria Rivermen captured a 3-2 overtime win over the Knoxville Ice Bears on Saturday night at Carver Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Ice Bears scored on a 5-on-3 power play with a Mike Henderson drive from the slot, which also resulted in the ejection of Rivermen coach Jean-Guy Trudel for protesting the circumstances of the two-man disadvantage. Rivermen forward Jake Trask found the net from the top of the left circle to tie the game with 4:20 left before the second intermission on assists from Mike Slowikowski and Nick Schneider.

The Ice Bears took the lead on another power play goal with 7:56 remaining in regulation when Peter Neal punched in a flurry. The Rivermen emptied the net and found another equalizer with only 19.1 seconds left when Alex Hudson knocked in a hopping puck in front assisted by Nick Schneider to force overtime.

Hudson collected the game-winning with 45.5 seconds showing on the overtime clock when he blasted a drive after the puck caromed to him in the slot, with the assist given to Dan Bremner.

Kyle Rank earned a 37-save win while Braely Torris stopped 34 shots in the loss. The Rivermen were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Ice Bears scored twice on 10 power plays. The game contained 101 penalty minutes, 72 against the Rivermen.

The victory moves the Rivermen into second place in the Southern Professional Hockey League with a record of 11-5-2 and 24 points while Knoxville (11-5-1, 23 points) gains a point but slips into third place.
