
Columbus Downs Louisiana in Overtime, 4-3

Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths' Kyle Thomas scored 4:45 into overtime to beat the Louisiana IceGators, 4-3 (OT).
Columbus nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Cottonmouths made it 3-1 on a goal by Matt Gingera at 4:25 in the second period. Louisiana pulled to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Chris Wilson at 1:01 in the third period.
Gingera had a great game for Columbus, netting two goals.
By firing 40 shots on goal, the Cottonmouths exceeded the 26.7 shots they average per game this year. Columbus struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays.
Chris Bailer also scored for Columbus. Other players who recorded assists for Columbus were Tyler MacPherson, Levi Lind, Neilsson Arcibal, Shawn Bates, Max Cook, and Bryce Williamson, who each chipped in one.
The IceGators put 35 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.4 they average per game.
Louisiana was helped by Mitchell Stretch, who had one goal. Stretch scored 10:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Wilson assisted on the tally. Louisiana additionally got points from Wilson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Adam Stuart as well. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Mike MacIntyre, who had one.
Shannon Szabados rejected 32 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths. Columbus registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The IceGators' Marco De Filippo stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Louisiana incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
