Hudson Valley and Williamsport Split DoubleHeader

FISHKILL, NY (August 14, 2004) – The Hudson Valley Renegades and Williamsport Crosscutters split a double header yesterday at Dutchess Stadium. The Crosscutters came out on top in the first game 4-1 and the Renegades were victorious in the second game 4-2.

In game one, with the game tied at one in the fifth, Williamsport took a 2-1lead on SS Brian Bixler's RBI single. In the seventh, the Crosscutters put the game out of reach for the Renegades scoring two more runs on 2B Jermel Lomack's RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Bixler.

Brandon Mann (L, 2-4) got the loss for the Renegades. He pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out two.

Kyle Bloom (W, 2-3) earned the win pitching 6 2/3 innings allowing two hits and one run.

Renegades 2B Josh Asanovich was 1-for-3 on the night with a solo home run.

In the second game, Wiliamsport lead 1-0 scoring an unearned run in the first, when the Renegades took a 2-1 lead in the third on DH Matt Spring's solo home run and C John Jaso's RBI double.

The Renegades added to their lead in the fifth on a RBI ground out from LF Pat Breen and added one more unearned run in the sixth.

Jon Barratt (W, 2-3) pitched 5 2/3 innings in the victory allowing six hits and one earned run while striking out seven in his first action in ten days because of a minor injury. Jose Delacruz (S, 4) got the save in 1 1/3 innings of work, allowing one hit no runs.

Luis Munoz (L, 2-2) got the loss for Williamsport pitching 5 1/3 innings, allowing eleven hits and four runs while striking out two.

The Renegades and Crosscutters play the rubber game of their three game series tomorrow in Williamsport. Game time is scheduled for 7 PM.
