Howe Named to CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game Roster

Regina, Sask. - The Canadian Hockey League announced on Tuesday it's rosters for the 2024 CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game, with Regina Pats captain Tanner Howe featured.

Howe, 18, has posted 39 points (20G-19A) in 33 games with the Pats this season, leading the club goals, points, power play goals (8PPG), power play points (14) and faceoff win percentage (52.3%). The Prince Albert, Sask. product is currently ranked an 'A' level prospect by NHL Central Scouting, which means he is projected to go in the first-round of the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft. The 5-foot-11, 182 lb. forward has tallied 195 points (84G-111A) in 172 games over four seasons with the Pats.

The CHL announced on March 24, 2023 that the Moncton Wildcats and Events Moncton will host the 2024 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Jan. 24, 2024 at the Avenir Centre. The game will see top NHL Draft eligible talent from the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League compete before hundreds of NHL scouts as they seek to improve their draft stock ahead of the 2024 NHL Draft.

A total of 14 WHL Clubs will be represented at the annual event, led by the Medicine Hat Tigers, Spokane Chiefs, Tri-City Americans and Calgary Hitmen, each boasting two players. Also represented with one player each at the 2024 CHL / NHL Top Prospects Game are the Brandon Wheat Kings, Edmonton Oil Kings, Everett Silvertips, Kamloops Blazers, Kelowna Rockets, Prince Albert Raiders, Prince George Cougars, Red Deer Rebels, Regina Pats, and Vancouver Giants.

The WHL will be represented by 12 forwards, four defencemen, and two goaltenders.

Among the list of players, there are eight WHL players with an 'A' rating from NHL Central Scouting, including projected first-round forwards Andrew Basha (Medicine Hat Tigers), Berkly Catton (Spokane Chiefs), Tanner Howe (Regina Pats), Tij Iginla (Kelowna Rockets), Adam Jecho (Edmonton Oil Kings), Cayden Lindstrom (Medicine Hat Tigers), Ryder Ritchie (Prince Albert Raiders), and defenceman Carter Yakemchuk (Calgary Hitmen).

The 40 players will be assigned to either Team Red or Team White in the new year, while captains and alternates for both squads will also be announced in January.

The 2024 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will mark the 28th edition of the showcase. While it is the first time the game will be played in New Brunswick, it is also just the second occasion it's been held in Atlantic Canada after Halifax played host in 2013.

Last season, Connor Bedard captained Team Red at the 2023 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Langley, B.C., where Team White beat Team Red 4-2. Carson Rehkopf (Team White/Kitchener Rangers) and Riley Heidt (Team Red/Prince George Cougars) were named the Jim Gregory Players of the Game.
