How Inter Miami Can Host an Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs Game
Published on October 7, 2022 under Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami clinched its second postseason berth in its three-year history this week following its heavy home win over Orlando City.
But as Aimé Mabika said postgame - see you on Sunday, but we're not done yet.
On Sunday, the team will face Eastern Conference two seed CF Montréal in a Decision Day matchup with playoff seeding implications. Notably, a scenario exists that would see Inter Miami host the first-ever playoff match at DRV PNK Stadium in the first round of the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Inter Miami Wins, New York Red Bulls Lose or Draw
With a win and a little help elsewhere, Inter Miami can secure a historic home playoff match next week. If the team extends its winning streak to five with a victory over Montréal on Sunday and the New York Red Bulls lose or draw in their Decision Day home matchup with Charlotte FC, Inter Miami will climb up to fourth in the Eastern Conference, high enough for a Round One match at DRV PNK Stadium.
