Houston Aeros News Release
WORCESTER, Mass. - Houston Aeros' Corey Locke and Barry Brust skated for the Canadian All-Star team and each set AHL All-Star Game records as PlanetUSA earned the 14-11 victory Monday night. Brust's first appearance added him to the record books when he tallied the first point, an assist, by a goaltender in an All-Star Game and Locke's four goals was an All-Star Game high as well.
Locke started the scoring with the game's opening goal only 1:11 into the contest giving Team Canada the early lead. He also opened the second period's scoring for a 4-2 Team Canada lead at 3:09 in the middle frame and was assisted by Brust, who backstopped Team Canada during the second period knocking aside 12 of 15 shots faced. Locke finished with two third-period goals giving Team Canada an 11-10 lead with under seven minutes remaining. However, PlanetUSA recorded four unanswered goals to finish the contest. Locke was the only member of Team Canada to record multiple goals.
The Aeros are joining the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to host a blood drive today from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the team's store, The Hangar, in the Shops at Houston Center (909 Fannin Street, Houston, TX 77010.) Aeros' defenseman Brandon Rogers will be on hand from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. to lend a hand along with the Aero Dynamics while shop patrons donate to help save lives.
The team will get back on the ice after the All-Star break this Thursday as Houston hosts the Quad City Flames Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The Binghamton Senators will be in town Friday for their first-ever visit. The 7:35 p.m. game will be aired on Fox Sports Houston as part of the Friday Night Ice series. Friday is also Mullet Night where the first 3,000 fans inside Toyota Center will receive wigs of the hairstyle made famous in the 80's and especially with hockey players.
