Houston Dash News Release
BOSTON (Sunday, April 26, 2015) - The Houston Dash visit the Boston Breakers today at 4 p.m. CT at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium. Tonight's game will be broadcast live on the NWSL YouTube page and at HoustonDashSoccer.com/live. Game notes for the Dash are attached.
This is the first of two meetings between the teams, with the Dash hosting Boston at BBVA Compass Stadium on August 30. Houston won two of the three matches against the Breakers in 2014, including the first win in club history on April 20 in Boston.
The Dash (1-0-1, 4 points) are currently in a three-team tie for second place in the NWSL standings, and can go into a tie for the top spot with a win this afternoon. The team is coming off a 1-1 draw on the road against Sky Blue FC last Saturday. Jessica McDonald scored her first goal for the Dash, and Morgan Brian recorded her first professional assist.
This is the final game with the Dash for U.S. Women's National Team players Carli Lloyd, Meghan Klingenberg and Morgan Brian before reporting to training camp in preparation for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. The trio will return to Houston at the conclusion of the United States' participation in the World Cup.
Boston (0-1-0, 0 points) opens their home schedule tonight after falling 4-1 on the road to Portland Thorns FC on April 11. The lone goal for the Breakers came from rookie forward and Boston College product Stephanie McCaffrey, who was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. The Breakers also feature USWNT goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, who was the 2014 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year after leading the league in saves.
The Dash return to Houston after today's match for a showdown against the 2014 NWSL champions FC Kansas City on May 2 at BBVA Compass Stadium. Individual tickets for the match start at just $15 and are available at HoustonDashSoccer.com or by calling (713) 276-GOAL.
