Houston Dash Open 2015 NWSL Season against Washington Spirit Tonight

HOUSTON (Friday, April 10, 2015) - The Houston Dash kick off the 2015 NWSL regular season against the Washington Spirit at BBVA Compass Stadium at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets are still available at HoustonDashSoccer.com, by calling (713) 276-GOAL, or at the stadium box office.

Tonight's game will be broadcast live via YouTube at HoustonDashSoccer.com/live, and by tape delay on ROOT SPORTS on Saturday, April 11 at 4 p.m. WNBA star and Houston product Brittney Griner will participate in the ceremonial coin toss prior to the match. Game notes for the Dash are attached.

The Dash finished their inaugural 2014 season in 9th place with a 5-16-3 record, but made numerous offseason additions to bolster the squad for 2015, including U.S. Women's National Team stars Carli Lloyd and Morgan Brian. Tonight's match is the only opportunity for fans to see Lloyd, Brian and returning Dash and USWNT defender Meghan Klingenberg in Houston before they join the U.S. for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The Spirit also boast the services of USWNT players Crystal Dunn, Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger, the latter of whom earned NWSL Best XI honors last season. Washington finished 2014 in fourth place with a 10-9-5 record, making the playoffs but losing in the semifinal round to Seattle Reign FC. In three contests against the Dash last season, the Spirit took two wins and a draw.

Following tonight's match, the Dash have a two-game road trip to Sky Blue FC and the Boston Breakers on April 18 and 26, respectively. The team returns to Houston for a May 2 match against reigning NWSL champions FC Kansas City. Tickets for the match are available by calling (713) 276-GOAL.
