Houston Dash News Release
The Houston Dash will make their first-ever NWSL playoffs appearance after clinching a playoff berth Friday evening by virtue of the North Carolina Courage's 0-0 draw at San Diego Wave FC.
"We are absolutely thrilled to clinch our spot in the 2022 playoffs," Houston Dash president Jessica O'Neill said. "Beyond the undeniable talent of this team, there is an abundance of resilience, character and grit. The Dash embody the spirit of Houston, a city full of energy and personality. We are honored to hold it down for H-Town in our quest for greatness."
Houston, which is in its ninth NWSL season, sits fifth in the NWSL table heading into tonight's match, which kicks off at 6 p.m. CDT and will be streamed live on Paramount+. The Dash are still vying for a chance to host a playoff match at PNC Stadium.
Seeding will be determined upon the conclusion of the regular season this weekend. The top two teams in league play will earn a first-round bye and will also host in the semifinal round. The third-place team will host the fifth seed and fourth seed will host the sixth seed for the semifinal round, which begins the weekend of October 15-16.
With a 9-6-6 overall record, the Dash can set a new single-season wins record with a victory tomorrow, surpassing the previous record of nine set in 2018 and 2021.
The Dash will host a watch party for Saturday's match at Eureka Heights Brew Co., located at 941 W. 18th St. in the Heights. Dash fans are invited to join Club staff to cheer on the team, and all fans who show up in Dash gear will be treated to a round on the team.
