Houston Dash Announce Roster Updates

July 10, 2019 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Houston Dash News Release

HOUSTON - Houston Dash defender Jazmin Jackmon and forward Jamia Fields have been signed to the full roster and forward Ariana Calderón was signed to the supplemental roster, the club announced today. Additionally, the Dash waived midfielder Meleana Shim and released forward Jorian Baucom and defender Riley Smith.

Jackmon and Fields spent the beginning of the season with the club on supplemental contracts, while Calderón came to Houston as a national team replacement player earlier this summer.

Jackmon came into Houston as the 21st overall NWSL Draft pick and saw action in all 38 games over two seasons with the University of Oregon. The 5'10" defender was the first University of Oregon player drafted into the NWSL and earned Honorable Mention Academic All-Pac 12 honors as a senior.

Fields returned to the NWSL this season after spending the 2018 season in Europe with Arna Bj?rnar and Avaldsnes IL in Norway. The forward spent two seasons with the Orlando Pride from 2016-2018 and appeared in 28 matches tallying two assists in 1,223 minutes.

Calderón joined the Dash from Thór/KA, a team in Iceland, where she spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons and made 33 appearances as a forward. The Mexican-American has played for the Mexican National Team since 2014, scoring two goals and tallying 13 appearances. At Long Island University, the forward tied in career mark in goals scored with 29 and concluded her career as the all-time leader with 69 points.

Shim made eight appearances for the Dash last season, tallying 597 minutes for Houston, 13 interceptions and five clearances. The midfielder suffered a left ankle injury during the 2018 season that prematurely ended her season. She did not report to the Dash for the 2019 season while recovering from the injury.

Baucom and Smith joined the club as national team replacement players shortly after Dash players left for France to represent Australia, Canada and England in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Smith came into Houston on May 31 after playing in the Women's Premier Soccer League with the ISC Gunners in Issaquah, Washington. Baucom came into Houston as a trialist after completing a successful collegiate career at both at LSU and the University of Colorado.

The Houston Dash are back in action on Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. CDT against the Chicago Red Stars at the BBVA Stadium. The game will be streamed live on Yahoo! Sports.
