
Houston Aeros Take Down Texas in OT, Win Sixth Straight

Cedar Park, TX - The Houston Aeros (12-6-1-2, 27 points) defeated the Texas Stars (11-8-2-1, 24 points) 2-1 in overtime on Friday night in front of 5,914 fans at the Cedar Park Center. Houston goalie Matt Hackett (9-5-2) made 35 saves to lead Houston to its sixth straight win. Hackett made 16 saves in the first period and added 11 more after the second intermission. Rookie Jason Zucker scored the game-winner for the Aeros, notching his 12th goal 3:07 into overtime. Defenseman Kris Fredheim added his first goal of the season, as Houston won for the third time in four meetings with Texas this season. Texas goalie Christopher Nilstorp (7-7-0) stopped 18 of 20 shots in the loss. Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon scored his team's lone goal. Houston will play against the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 5:05 p.m. at Toyota Center.
The Aeros opened the scoring at 5:32 of the first period as defender Kris Fredheim tapped a deflection into the net for his first goal of the season. Forward Johan Larsson and defender Brian Connelly had assists on the goal that made it 1-0.
After a scoreless second period, Texas tied the game at 1-1 at 13:24 of the third period on a goal by Brenden Dillon. Forwards Francis Waithier and Travis Morin were given the assists on the Dillon's second goal of the season.
Zucker won it for the Aeros in the extra session, sneaking a backhand past Nilstrop at 3:07 of overtime for the 2-1 win. Forward David McIntyre and defenseman Marco Scandella each had an assist on Zucker's team-leading 12th goal of the season.
The Aeros return to Toyota Center on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 5:05 p.m. to host the Peoria Rivermen. Fans are allowed to purchase a ticket for their dog and bring their canine in honor of "Chilly's Pets Pals". The Aeros will have a "dog friendly" section complete with a water and relief station. Any fan who brings a dog toy as part of the Dog Toy Drive will receive two tickets to a select future Aeros home game. Every Sunday throughout the season is Family Day, where fans may purchase four tickets, parking and four Aeros prizes starting at $54.
Aeros season tickets start as low as $9 per seat and may be purchased online at Aeros.com by placing a $100 deposit.
