House, Doyne Elected To IL All-Star Team

June 27, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Norfolk Tides News Release

The International League announced its roster for the Triple-A All-Star game today, and catcher J.R. House and reliever Cory Doyne have both been elected to the team. The 20th annual All-Star game, which features the International League vs. the Pacific Coast League, will be televised live on ESPN on July 11 from Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

House, who is hitting .300 with six home runs and 46 RBI, will be the starting catcher in the contest, and he will be the 4th Tides' catcher to appear in the event, joining Todd Hundley (1991), Vance Wilson (2000 and 2001) and Jason Phillips (2002). The 27-year-old backstop is currently tied for second in the IL with 86 base hits (the 86 hits also leads all Orioles' minor leaguers) and he is tied for 5th in the IL with 46 RBI.

Doyne has 21 saves in 22 chances, a total that leads the IL and is third in all of minor league baseball. The 25-year-old right-hander is already third on the Tides' single season list for most saves in a season, trailing only Derek Wallace (26 in 1996) and Oscar Henriquez (23 in 1999) on the franchise list. Since May 5, Doyne has gone 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 16 saves in 21 games, and he has not allowed a run over his last 23.1 innings pitched. The scoreless innings streak is just 3.1 innings shy of the Tides' franchise record of 26.2 consecutive scoreless frames, set by reliever Royce Ring in 2006.
