
Hounds move into second place tie with huge road win

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA - The Youngstown SteelHounds came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Oklahoma City Blazers 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday night. The Hounds improve to 25-14-2 (52 points) and move into a tie with the Mississippi RiverKings (25-14-2, 52 points) for second place in the Northeast Division.
The Blazers jumped out to the lead first as Garrett Prosofsky beat Andy Franck at 7:43 of the first period to make it 1-0. Youngstown answered as Kirill Starkov scored his 12th goal of the year at 8:29 to tie the game at one. Marty Standish scored at 11:05 and DJ Jelitto scored at 13:16 to give the Blazers a 3-1 lead after one period. The Blazers out shot the Hounds 18-5 for the period and 47-27 for the game.
Eric Przepiorka cut the deficit in half with a power play goal at 2:18 to make it 3-2 Blazers after two periods. It was Przepiorka's team leading 21st tally of the year. Youngstown was 1-6 on the power play while Oklahoma City was 0-5.
In the third period Joel Irving and Chris Richards got together to beat Sean Connors with 6:50 to play to tie the game at three and force overtime and the eventual shootout. In the shootout Andy Franck stopped four of five Blazers shots while Eric Przepiorka and Jason Baird scored to give the Hounds the 2-1 edge in the shootout and 4-3 win. Andy Franck made 44 saves on 47 shots in the Hounds victory.
The Hounds finish the two game road trip a perfect 2-0-0 and are 16-9-1 on the road this season. The win puts them in a tie for second place in the Northeast Division and fourth place in the Northern Conference with the Mississippi RiverKings. The Hounds trail the Colorado Eagles (24-12-5, 53 points) by one point for the coveted third seed in the Northern Conference playoff picture.
The Hounds return home and will begin an eight game home stand on Tuesday morning when they host the Texas Brahmas for "Kids Day" at 10:35am. Fans can purchase a "Business Persons Special" ticket and lunch package for $15. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
