Hounds Break Records Like It's Easy in Huge Win Over Rage

The Youngstown SteelHounds made almost too much history to talk about with an amazing 9-1 victory over the Rocky Mountain Rage on Thursday night in Broomfield, Colorado.

Chris Richards scored his first of the night on the power play early in the first to make it 1-0 after one period.

The second period saw the Hounds set a franchise record for most goals in one period with seven as Chris Richards scored three more to give him four for the night and tie a franchise record for most goals in one game. Garrett Larson scored two of his three in the second period and Tab Lardner recorded his 14th of the year to make it 7-0. Youngstown was not done yet with Mark Johnson getting his first goal of 2007 and fifth of the season in the second period to make it 8-0 after two periods.

Garrett Larson recorded his hat trick to make 9-0 at the 11:28 mark of the third as for Larson it gives him 10 goals in just seven as a SteelHound with three straight games of two goals or more. Seven of the Hounds record setting nine goals came from Jeff Christian assists which also sets a new franchise record. Christian had seven assists with Richards getting three assists to go with his four goals and Larson had two assists to go with his hat trick in this history making night for Y-Town.

Brad Roberts was stellar in net making 30 saves on 31 shots in the win for the SteelHounds. Youngstown is now 1-1-0 on this road trip and are now 19-14-8 with 46 points for the season. The SteelHounds will finish the road trip in Texas when they are at the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at 8:00pm.
