Chicago Hounds News Release
CHICAGO, I.L. - The Chicago Hounds announced today the team's captains for the 2023 Major League Rugby season, kicking off this Saturday when the team travels down to the nation's capital for the first game in the franchise's young history.
Center Bryce Campbell will lead the team after being appointed as the captain for the year. It is a familiar role for the Indianapolis native; he served as captain under Head Coach Sam Harris during the 2021 and 2022 campaigns with the Austin Gilgronis.
"It's a massive honor to be named captain of this group," Campbell said. "It's a title that I will strive to earn day in and day out. We all just can't wait to hit the ground running and show this city what we can do."
Luke Beauchamp was named as the vice-captain for the Hounds' inaugural season. The Australian flanker was the Houston Sabercats' co-captain during the 2021 Major League Rugby season.
"It's a huge honor to be named vice-captain of the Chicago Hounds for our inaugural season," Beauchamp added. "I will aim to support Bryce the best I can, and lead with my actions to ensure a successful season."
The Chicago Hounds kick off their inaugural season in Major League Rugby on February 18th at 1:00 PM CST when they take on Old Glory DC at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. Fans can watch the Hounds play live at SeatGeek Stadium for the home opener against the Utah Warriors on Sunday, March 5th.
