Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Pederson, who played Midget AAA for Team Illinois last season made 53 saves in Friday's game and 45 saves in Saturday's tilt. "When Pederson's hot, he's hot", said Express coach Matt Romaniski. "I've never seen a goaltender make 98 saves out of 100 shots in all the years I've been involved with hockey"
Springfield coach Chris Wyler agreed. "We only gave up 35 shots in two games so it's not as if our defense let down. The Pederson kid just stood on his head and stopped everything we could throw at him"
The Blues, however, had 10 chances on the power play but failed to score. They had two chances with a 5 on 3 advantage that the Express distinguished.
After a lackluster effort in the first period, it looked like the Blues were ready to paly in the second. Kyle Greco scored the lone Springfield goal assisted by Casey Dion and Matt Larke, within 30 seconds of the start of the second period. The Blues continued to pelt Pederson with 18 shots but couldn't hit the back of the net.
The losses drop the Jr. Blues to 3rd place in the Central Division while Minnesota climbed from 4th to third.
The Jr. Blues travel to Southern Minnesota for two games next weekend and then to Texas on November 30th and December 1st. The Blues host the Texas Tornadoes at the Nelson Center December 7th and 8th. The dates were reported wrong in a previous article.
