Kentucky Horsemen News Release

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lexington Horsemen begin their quest for the 2006 United Bowl on Saturday when they play host to Rock River in the United Indoor Football Semifinals. The match-up was determined after the Raptors defeated Sioux City, 37-33, on Saturday in Rockford, Ill.

Kick-off in Rupp Arena between the East Division Champion Horsemen and the Central Division Champion Raptors (12-4) is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be carried live on WLAP 630-AM with Gary Ball and Randy Wilson. West Division Champion Sioux Falls will face fifth-seeded Evansville next Sunday in Sioux Falls, S.D., in the league's other semifinal match-up.

The second-seeded Horsemen (13-2), who lost to Sioux Falls in the semifinals of the 2005 UIF playoffs, look for their first UIF title and the second national title in franchise history after winning the 2004 National Indoor Football League Championship. Lexington, which posted its best regular-season record in franchise history this year, has a 5-2 all-time record in playoff contests, including a 1-1 mark in UIF postseason action.

The Horsemen will be looking to avenge their only two losses of the season when they face Rock River. The Raptors are the only team to beat Lexington this season and they swept the season series with the Horsemen with a 55-46 win in Rupp Arena on June 3 after defeating them 62-43 in Rockford, Ill., on May 20.

Tickets for the playoff contest are still available. Please call (859) 422-PASS for more information.
