Grand Rapids Hoops News Release

The Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids HOOPS announced today that Olden Polynice has signed a deal to join the team.

Polynice (7-0, 250) has played 14 seasons and over 1,000 games in the National Basketball Association with five different teams including the Seattle Supersonics, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and, most recently, the Utah Jazz. During the past year, the Haitian-born center played with the Harlem Globetrotters. He has a career average of 7.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

The former Virginia Cavalier originally left school early to play professionally with Rimini of the Italian League, where he averaged 17.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. He was then drafted in the first round (8th overall) of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. Soon after he was traded to the Seattle Supersonics in exchange for the draft rights to Scottie Pippen.

Polynice is expected to join the HOOPS for tonight's contest with the Great Lakes Storm. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the DeltaPlex Arena.
