Honkers Take Anchors for a Ride

Alexandria, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors lost to the Rochester Honkers by a score of 14-2 Saturday night.

Rochester got on the board first after an RBI groundout by Mark Handberg would make it 1-0 in the top of the second.

Jeff Campbell drove in two more on an RBI single in the top of the third to make it 3-0 Honkers. Later in the inning, another run would score on a wild pitch.

In the top of the sixth, a Rochester sac fly would leave it 5-0 Honkers heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Alexandria got the bats rolling in the bottom of the sixth. Kris Goodman hit an infield single and a run would score on that play after a throwing error by the Honker Third Baseman. Two batters later, Nehwon Norkeh was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the Anchor's second run of the game. The score would be left 5-2 entering the seventh.

Rochester would then take those runs back and then some in the top of the seventh. A pair of bases loaded walks brought in two and then a two RBI single from Parker Guinn would make it 9-2 Honkers.

The Honkers would tack on five more in the top of the ninth and would then hold on to secure an 14-2 win.
