Lake Country DockHounds News Release
OCONOMOWOC, WI - The Lake Country DockHounds won the first of a six-game homestand against the Kane County Cougars, taking them down 10-6.
After the Cougars went down 1-2-3 in their half of the first inning, Lamar Briggs showed his power with a home run on the first pitch the DockHounds saw offensively. The solo shot was the fifth at home for Briggs.
Jimmy Kerrigan took the first pitch of the second inning for ball one, then hit a homer of his own. Josh Rolette singled and scored later in the inning to put the Cougars ahead 2-1.
But Daikan Yoh had plans of going yard, as he jolted one for two runs to score Jake Snider in the bottom of the second.
In true Jimmy Kerrigan fashion, the center fielder hit his second home run in back-to-back plate appearances, bringing in Cornelius Randolph.
Gio Brusa wanted to join the home run party so he blasted a 3-run homer over the left-field wall. The next at-bat Jake Snider hit a home run too! The score was then 7-4 with the DockHounds leading.
In the fifth, TJ Bennett doubled and would score from Snider's double. On a hard hit ball to Galli Cribbs Jr. at shortstop, Lake Country would score their ninth run.
Bennett blasted a solo homer to cap off his day going 3-for-3. He would take home the Baird Top Hound honors in the game.
The Cougars would score two runs in the ninth, but stranded the bases loaded to end scoring with a 10-6 victory for the 'Hounds.
Evan Kruczynski took the victory as the starting pitcher, going eight innings and striking out six. He gave up just three earned runs.
The DockHounds continue their homestand against the Cougars tomorrow at 6:35. You can catch the action live on AAbaseball.tv, with the voice of the DockHounds, Sam Matheny, providing the play-by-play commentary.
