Backed by strong pitching the Calgary Vipers (12-11) defeated the Chico Outlaws (8-13) 3-1 at Nettleton Stadium in Chico, California in the first half of a double-header featuring two seven inning games. Making his return to the city he pitched for last year Garret Holleran (1-3) won his first game of the season by allowing only one run in five and a third innings while striking out six Outlaws. Out of the bullpen Chris Bodishbaugh earned a hold by retiring both batters he faced and Claudio Galva (6) recorded the save with a perfect final inning including two strikeouts. Demetrius Banks (2-2) took the loss by allowing three runs in six and a third innings. Offensively Calgary outhit Chico 9-4.
Game 2 of this double-header is scheduled for 9:00.
The Vipers continue this seven games in five days series in Chico against the Outlaws on Monday June 20th with another double-header starting at 6:00.
Calgary will return home on Thursday June 23rd at 7:05 to take on the Strong Warriors of Maui.
The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
