Toledo Walleye News Release
(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye have announced plans for the first ever Holiday Hockeyfest event at the Huntington Center on Monday, December 26.
The event will be an all-day affair featuring six hockey games starting at 10:00 a.m. and lasting until 8:00 p.m. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the participating high school hockey teams. Each team will then be making a donation to Kyle Cannon and his family. Kyle is a former hockey player at Clay High School that was paralyzed during a hockey game in 2008.
Cannon will be recognized, along with captains from all eight participating high school teams, prior to the Toledo Walleye game on Sunday, December 11. The game starts at 4:00 p.m. and the ceremony will take place at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Walleye Manager of Special Events Michael Keedy said, "We are honored to host this unique event in December. This marks the third year that the Toledo Walleye have showcased high school hockey at the Huntington Center. In all three years, the Kyle Cannon benefit event has been a part of the high school schedule. This year, we have taken another step forward to build on the momentum of the first two years and we can't wait for the Holiday Hockey Fest."
Doors to the Huntington Center will open at 9:00 a.m. on December 26 and fans will be permitted to leave and re-enter during the Hockeyfest event.
