Hoffman Named Mallards' Executive Vice President
April 21, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (April 21, 2015) - Bob Hoffman has joined the Quad City Mallards as the team's executive vice president, the Mallards announced today.
Hoffman brings a wealth of wide-ranging experience to his new role with the Mallards. Most recently, he served as the Central Hockey League's Director of Operations and Communications from 2007 until last fall. In his position with the CHL Hoffman oversaw all league and team operations in areas including sales, marketing, communications, advertising and game operations.
"Bob is a tremendous addition to the Mallards," said Mallards president Bob McNamara. "With his experience and skills he will play an important role for us as we continue to grow our business and expand our presence in the Quad Cities."
Hoffman will assist McNamara in leading the overall operation of the franchise and bring his expertise to an array of duties with the Mallards, including corporate sales. He will apply best practices in sales and marketing gleaned from his time with the CHL and bring to bear experience earned over his nearly two decades in professional sports.
Before joining the CHL office, Hoffman served as vice president of communications for the Elmore Sports Group, where he was the primary communications executive for first the CHL's San Antonio Iguanas and then the American Hockey League's Utah Grizzlies. For both clubs he also excelled in sales of tickets, premium seating and corporate sponsorships.
From the Elmore Sports Group, Hoffman moved on to serve as the assistant general manager of the CHL's Youngstown SteelHounds. He directed all of the SteelHounds' ticket sales, marketing, advertising, broadcasting and public relations efforts during the club's first two seasons.
Hoffman has been repeatedly honored for his achievements, including recognition as one of Utah's top 50 marketing executives (Deseret News) and as the CHL's Communications Executive of the Year. He was also twice a finalist for the CHL's Soul of Service Award.
A graduate of Kent State University, Hoffman has also taken up key roles with SportsChannel Ohio, the Western Professional Hockey League, the WPHL's Arkansas GlacierCats, the AHL's Louisville Panthers and af2's Louisville Fire over the course of his highly successful career.
The Mallards return home for game three of their best-of-seven Central Division Semi-Final playoff series against the Rapid City Rush tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. The Mallards will also host game four Friday at 7:05 p.m. and game five Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Should a sixth game be required, the series will move back to Rapid City on Tuesday, April 28. If the series goes to a seventh game, the Rush would host the deciding contest on Wednesday, April 29.
