Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Mike Hoffman had a career night with four goals and an assist as he led the B-Sens to a 6-3 win over the Sharks in Worcester. Jean-Gabriel Pageau chipped in on three of four of Hoffman's tallies en route to a four assist night while Cole Schneider added a goal and an assist to help Binghamton to their 28th victory of the season.

Buddy Robinson struck first putting the B-Sens on the board 3:22 into the first period. Robinson broke through the defense and wristed the puck home for his eighth goal of the year giving Binghamton a 1-0 lead. Mike Hoffman scored his first goal of the night at the 9:08 mark of the first. Hoffman stole the puck from Dylan DeMelo in the Sharks zone and put a shot over Harri Sateri's shoulder to make the score 2-0. Hoffman struck again less than three minutes later on a power play that came after Adam Comrie's crosschecking call. Hoffman one-timed a shot from the top of the faceoff dot to move the score to 3-0 after receiving a cross-ice pass from Pageau. B-Sens goaltender Nathan Lawson, who resumed netminding duties for the first time since leaving the January 11 contest due to injury, faced only six shots in the period while Sateri stopped nine of 12 Sens shots.

The second period brought troubles for the Sens penalty kill unit as they gave up two man advantage goals. The first Sharks power-play goal came from Travis Oleksuk at the 6:45 mark followed by Konrad Abeltshauser striking almost seven minutes later. The remaining time in the second proved scoreless as Binghamton went to the locker room with a 3-2 lead.

Schneider notched his 15th goal of the season to add to the B-Sens lead less than four minutes into the period on a power play goal. Schneider tipped in a shot from Hoffman 3:38 into the period to bring Sens lead to 4-2. Exactly four minutes later, Tyler Gron cut the lead to 4-3 after sending home a loose puck that beat Lawson between his pads. Hoffman put home his third of the night upstairs on Sateri at the 9:28 mark after Pageau fed him a pass on a two-on-one rush down the ice. At the 13:30 mark of the third Hoffman tied a B-Sens record putting home his fourth goal of the night and brought the final score to 6-3 Binghamton.

Lawson stopped 26 of 29 shots faced in his first appearance in six games while Sateri ended with 22 saves on 28 shots. Binghamton's power-play unit went two for four while Worcester converted twice on their five man-advantage opportunities.

Binghamton continues their road trip in Manchester on Friday in a 7:00p.m. tilt versus the Monarchs.
