High Point-Thomasville HiToms News Release

HIGH POINT-THOMASVILLE, N.C. - The High-Point Thomasville HiToms welcome back the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team ("CNT") to Finch Field during the 2014 summer. The June 23rd encounter will be the first of seven games for the CNT on their week-long tour of the Coastal Plain League.

"It's a tremendous privilege for our organization to once again play host to USA Baseball," said HiToms GM, Nick Gaski. "For our players this a coveted chance to compete against a compilation of college baseball's elite, and for our fans it's a unique opportunity to not only watch, but also interact with these exceptionally talented athletes."

The majority of the 2013 CNT will be selected in this summer's Major League Baseball Draft, with the two NC State products (Carlos Rodon, LHP & Trea Turner, IF) likely to go in the early portion of the 1st Round. The 2014 roster has yet to be finalized, but expect to see UNC outfielder, Skye Bolt, and LSU infielder, Alex Bregman, each return this summer.

"The seven-game tour through the CPL will allow the CNT to get ready with the wood bat and continue to name players to the final 24-man roster," said Eric Campbell, USA Baseball's General Manager of National Teams. "We had a great atmosphere in all the CPL stadiums last summer and expect even greater excitement as this tour continues to go to the next level."

USA Baseball's involvement with the Coastal Plain League has grown steadily and the 2014 games will mark the fifth straight year in which CPL teams have welcomed the USA Baseball CNT into their parks.
